Violent explosions in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem as Tehran launches new wave of missiles

Violent, sustained explosions have been heard in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv on Thursday morning, as sirens sounded in several parts of the country and the Israeli army warned of incoming Iranian missiles.

The Israeli military confirmed incoming Iranian missiles and warned citizens to seek shelter, marking a significant escalation in the week-long conflict.

According to the AFP and Reuters journalists, the explosions heard in Jerusalem around 7:10am (0410 GMT) were the biggest since the conflict with Iran began one week ago.

Iran’s Fars news agency reported a “new wave of missiles shot toward Israel.”

Israeli media outlets are confirming at least four impact sites within Israel following the Iranian missile attack.

According to an Israeli military official, several Iranian missiles struck civilian population centres, including a hospital in southern Israel, after dozens of projectiles were launched at the country.
