Renowned Actress Ayesha Khan Found Dead in Karachi Apartment

Veteran Pakistani actress Ayesha Khan was discovered deceased in her Gulshan-e-Iqbal residence, with police estimating her body had been there for nearly a week. Authorities confirmed she lived alone, and the incident came to light after neighbors alerted her family about a disturbing odor from her flat. Police swiftly moved her remains to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for necessary legal procedures before transferring them to Edhi’s mortuary in Sohrab Goth.

Ayesha Khan, born in 1948, was a beloved figure in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, starring in timeless PTV dramas such as Afshan, Uroosa, Aanch, Bandhan, and Shaam Se Pehle. One of her most memorable performances was in Afshan, where she portrayed a resilient woman enduring the hardships of Partition while raising her brother’s daughter. Her nuanced acting left an indelible mark on Pakistani television.

Arts Council of Pakistan President Ahmed Shah expressed deep sorrow, highlighting her five-decade-long contribution to drama. Ayesha was the elder sister of actress Khalida Riasat, adding to the family’s legacy in the arts. Funeral arrangements will be announced later as fans and colleagues mourn the loss of a true icon.

While initial reports suggest no foul play, a post-mortem examination will be conducted per her family’s request. The entertainment industry and her admirers remember her not just as a talented actress but as a symbol of grace and perseverance in Pakistani media. Her passing leaves a void that will be hard to fill.
