Karachi Allocated Rs. 254 Billion, Amount May Increase: Murad Ali Shah

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced that Rs. 254 billion have been allocated for Karachi, and this amount may increase but will not decrease.

Speaking during the Sindh Assembly session, Murad Ali Shah stated that the Speaker receives the highest salary in the Assembly, yet even that is only 10% of a judge’s salary.

He stressed that the minimum wage should be Rs. 42,000, and the matter will be finalized next month.

Commenting on the opposition’s behavior, he said that on budget day, the opposition caused disruption, unlike the Punjab Assembly where the Speaker had the authority to expel members from the session. He emphasized that the Speaker holds such powers.

Murad Ali Shah added that the government had asked opposition members to submit their development schemes. Out of these, 17 members provided schemes along with cost estimates, while 5 submitted schemes without mentioning costs.

He also said that he will remain Chief Minister as long as the party leadership desires. Addressing opposition claims that Karachi is being neglected, he asserted that the government is taking concrete steps to improve law and order in the city.

Murad Ali Shah concluded by saying that the government is set to complete 1,460 development schemes this year. He urged the opposition to stop unnecessary criticism and instead work together for the betterment of the province. The Sindh Assembly session was then adjourned until 11 a.m. Tuesday.
