Pakistan’s Huzaifa Arshad Strikes Gold at South Asian Karate Championship

Pakistan’s young karate prodigy, Huzaifa Arshad, clinched a gold medal in the Cadet Individual Kata (Under-10) category at the South Asian Karate Championship in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The victory highlights the rising talent in Pakistan’s martial arts scene, as Arshad outperformed competitors from across the region.

A day earlier, Areesha Nadeem secured a silver medal in the Under-21 (below 50kg) category, further boosting Pakistan’s medal count. The championship features athletes from Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan, with intense competition across various age and weight divisions.

As of now, Pakistan holds 9 medals1 gold, 1 silver, and 7 bronze—placing them fifth in the overall standings. India leads the tally with 59 medals (23 gold, 24 silver, 12 bronze), followed by Nepal (50 medals) and Sri Lanka (59 medals with fewer golds). Bangladesh sits in fourth place with 24 medals.
