COAS Munir Rejects India’s Claims of Chinese Support as “Camp Politics”

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir has strongly rejected India’s allegations that China provided military assistance to Islamabad during the recent armed confrontation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. Speaking at the National Defence University, he termed the claims “a shoddy attempt at playing camp politics,” accusing New Delhi of fabricating narratives to position itself as a “net security provider” in the region. His remarks came in response to an Indian lieutenant general’s assertion that Beijing supplied “live inputs” on Indian troop positions during the May conflict.

The Indian official had alleged that Pakistan received real-time intelligence from China, citing intercepted communications during military talks. However, COAS Munir countered that such insinuations were “irresponsible and factually incorrect,” stressing that Pakistan’s operational success in Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos was achieved through indigenous capability and decades of strategic prudence. He also mocked India’s “lack of operational readiness” during Operation Sindoor, where it failed to achieve its objectives.

The army chief issued a stern warning, stating that any aggression against Pakistan’s sovereignty—including attacks on population centers, military bases, or economic hubs—would provoke a “swift, deeply hurting, and more than reciprocal response.” He emphasized that Pakistan, as a sovereign nuclear state, would not tolerate violations of its territorial integrity, placing the “onus of escalation” squarely on any aggressor.

Highlighting the evolving nature of modern warfare, COAS Munir underscored the importance of mental preparedness, operational clarity, and institutional professionalism. He praised institutions like the NDU for fostering civil-military synergy and preparing future leaders to counter hybrid and conventional threats. The army chief concluded by reaffirming the armed forces’ unwavering readiness to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty with resolve and competence.
