“Let them come, but they won’t change anything”: PML-N’s Siddiqui on Khan’s sons joining PTI protests

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Irfan Siddiqui has dismissed the potential impact of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sons joining the party’s anti-government campaign. Speaking on Geo Pakistan, Siddiqui stated that Qasim and Suleiman Khan’s involvement would not trigger any major political upheaval, provided they operate within legal limits.

The comments follow PTI leader Aleema Khan’s announcement that Imran Khan’s UK-based sons intend to travel to the US to raise awareness about their father’s imprisonment before returning to Pakistan for political activism. Siddiqui, however, downplayed their influence, saying, “He wants to bring his children into politics, but their presence will not cause any political storm.” He further asserted that only Imran Khan’s own legal decisions—not his family’s efforts—could secure his release.

PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja defended the Khan family’s involvement, stating that they have every right to join the movement. Drawing parallels to Benazir Bhutto’s past struggles, Raja emphasized that seeking justice is a legitimate political act. Meanwhile, Siddiqui ruled out any imminent change in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s provincial government, citing the ruling coalition’s inability to secure a two-thirds majority.

As PTI prepares for its protest campaign, the government remains firm in its stance, with Siddiqui’s remarks reflecting confidence in the status quo. With Imran Khan’s legal battles ongoing and his family stepping into the political arena, will PTI’s movement gain traction? The coming weeks may determine the next phase of Pakistan’s political showdown.
