UK Introduces eVisas for Pakistani Students & Workers – No More Physical Stickers!

In a major move to simplify visa procedures, the United Kingdom (UK) has introduced an eVisa system for Pakistani students and workers, replacing the traditional physical sticker visas. The British High Commission in Islamabad announced the change on Tuesday, stating that most main applicants for study or work visas will no longer require a passport sticker from July 15.

An eVisa serves as an online record of a person’s immigration status and visa conditions, accessible through a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account. The shift is part of the UK’s broader effort to create a more secure, efficient, and digital immigration system. British High Commissioner Jane Marriott emphasized that the new system will make it easier for applicants to prove their visa status while allowing them to retain their passports throughout the process.

However, the High Commission clarified that dependent family members and applicants for other visa categories (such as visitor visas) will still need physical sticker visas for now. Those with existing valid visa stickers do not need to take any immediate action. The UK plans to eventually extend the eVisa system to all visa routes, ensuring a fully digital and streamlined process for all applicants.

This development is expected to reduce processing delays and enhance convenience for Pakistani students and professionals traveling to the UK. With millions already using eVisas on select routes, the system has been tested and proven effective. The move reflects the UK’s commitment to modernizing its border controls while maintaining strict security measures.

For applicants, this means quicker access to visa details, reduced paperwork, and a smoother travel experience. As the UK continues to digitize its immigration processes, Pakistani travelers stand to benefit from a more efficient and hassle-free system.
