Renowned Pakistani singer Humaira Channa recently shared the personal and professional hurdles she faced at the start of her career. During an appearance on Mazaaq Raat, she disclosed that her extended family, particularly an uncle, severed ties with her father when she decided to pursue singing. Born into an artistic family—her father was a film producer, and her mother appreciated the arts—Humaira still faced harsh criticism, with relatives accusing her father of exploiting her talent for money.
Humaira began her journey with Radio Pakistan and PTV, but her big break came with the film Hum Ek Hain, where she sang all the songs under composer Nisar Bazmi’s guidance. However, the project was fraught with controversy—the lead actress, a singer herself, demanded to sing the songs, but Bazmi stood by Humaira. The film’s male lead also caused tensions, making production chaotic. Despite this, Humaira’s work earned her awards and recognition, launching her into stardom.
Beyond professional struggles, Humaira spoke about her personal life, stating she never fell in love before marriage. She believes true love begins after marriage, calling one-sided affection a waste of time. Interestingly, the same relatives who once shunned her later sought to reconnect after her rise to fame, proving how success can change perceptions.
Humaira’s story is one of resilience—transforming rejection into admiration. From family disapproval to sharing the stage with Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, her journey inspires aspiring artists to stay true to their passion, no matter the obstacles.
