YORK – Pakistan’s Imam-ul-Haq continued his sensational run in the One-Day Cup, smashing his second hundred in a row to power Yorkshire to a dominant seven-wicket win over arch-rivals Lancashire.
Batting first, Lancashire put up a strong 294-8 in 50 overs, thanks to Michael Jones’ explosive 102 off 88 balls, featuring six fours and seven sixes. George Balderson provided late fireworks with a 48-ball 70, while skipper Marcus Harris (32), Harry Singh (33), and Arav Shetty (27) made useful contributions.
In reply, Yorkshire cruised to 295-3 in just 46.5 overs, led by Imam’s masterful 117 off 124 deliveries, including ten fours and five sixes. William Luxton provided strong support with a brisk 77 off 63 balls, while James Wharton (41*) and Matthew Revis (41) finished the job with an unbroken 74-run partnership.
With three wins in three matches, Yorkshire now tops Group B with 12 points and an impressive net run rate of +2.219. Their next challenge is against Somerset on August 14.
Imam-ul-Haq is the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 331 runs in three innings, including two centuries and a fifty, averaging a staggering 110.33 with a strike rate of 98.21. His red-hot form makes him the player to watch as Yorkshire push for the knockout stages.
