Mufti Kifayatullah Shot by His Own Son; Daughter and Son Killed in Attack

JUI-F district president Mufti Kifayatullah was critically injured after armed assailants stormed his residence in Bathela, Malakand, on Saturday. Levies officials confirmed that the attack resulted in the tragic deaths of two of his children—a son and a daughter—while his wife also sustained injuries. The assailants fled immediately after the shooting.

In a dramatic turn, law enforcement swiftly apprehended the prime suspect—identified as Kifayatullah’s own son. Deputy Commissioner Hamidur Rehman verified the arrest, adding that the injured JUI-F leader is now in stable condition, though his daughter remains hospitalized.

This incident marks the latest in a series of violent attacks targeting JUI-F members. Earlier this year in March, two party leaders were fatally shot in Khuzdar, Balochistan. Weeks later, a mosque blast in South Waziristan injured four worshippers, including a JUI-F district chief.

Authorities are investigating possible motives behind the attack as the nation mourns this heartbreaking loss. The recurring violence against political figures raises urgent concerns about security and stability in the region.
