PCB Chairman Directs Swift Finalization of New Central Contracts Ahead of UAE Tour

Karachi – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has instructed the board to complete and announce the new central contracts for national team players before the squad’s departure for the UAE on August 21. The move comes as the previous contracts officially lapsed on June 30, leaving several players in limbo regarding their future with the national team.

According to sources, Sahibzada Farhan, Hasan Nawaz, Fakhar Zaman, Faheem Ashraf, spinner Sufiyan Muqeem, and Mohammad Haris are expected to secure central contracts. Additionally, Hasan Ali, Khushdil Shah, Hussain Talat, and Mohammad Nawaz are also likely to be retained.

The PCB is reportedly taking a merit-based approach, meaning players with consistent underperformances could be left out of the new contracts. This signals a shift towards accountability and rewarding form, aligning with Naqvi’s vision for a more competitive national setup.

The Pakistan team will travel to the UAE later this month for a tri-series, making the contract announcements crucial for player morale ahead of the assignment. The board aims to ensure clarity and stability for players before the tour begins.
