Brother of PPP Leader Saeed Ghani Arrested on Anti-Terrorism Charges

In a late-night operation on Saturday, the Ferozabad police arrested Farhan Ghani, the brother of prominent Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani. The arrest was made following a First Information Report (FIR) lodged by a government employee, Hafiz Sohail, which includes serious charges under anti-terrorism and attempted murder statutes.

The complaint details a violent incident alleged to have occurred on August 22. According to Sohail, he was supervising the installation of a fiber optic cable on Shahrah-e-Faisal’s service road when he was approached by a group of 20-25 individuals, including Farhan Ghani. The group questioned his authority to dig the road, despite him presenting necessary government permits. The situation escalated into a physical assault, with the complainant alleging that guns were pointed at him with intent to kill. He further claims he was taken to a nearby petrol pump and beaten before a police mobile unit intervened, rescued him, and brought him to the station.

In response to the allegations and arrest, Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani confirmed that a dispute had occurred between his brother and the complainant. He stated that Hafiz Sohail had exercised his legal right to file a case and asserted that his brother, Farhan Ghani, along with all other accused individuals, would submit to the legal process and prove their innocence in a court of law. The case continues to develop as investigations proceed.
