KARACHI: Salman Farooqi, the suspect seen in a viral video assaulting a motorcyclist in front of his sisters in Karachi’s upscale Defence area, has been arrested.
According to reports, the incident took place in Khayaban-e-Ittehad where Salman Farooqi, allegedly enraged over a minor collision involving his car, physically assaulted a young motorcyclist while the victim’s sisters pleaded for mercy. Despite their repeated requests, the assailant refused to stop the attack.
DIG South Asad Raza confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody and transferred to the Gizri Police Station. He added that police also raided the suspect’s home and office during the investigation.
The DIG stated that the accused will be presented before a magistrate within 24 hours, and a thorough investigation is underway. Farooqi’s statement is being recorded, and the viral video clearly shows him assaulting the victim. The police assured that justice will be served.
