High-Level Delegation Inspects Khairpur Levees, Assures Public of Safety Measures

A high-powered delegation, led by Provincial Minister for Energy and Sindh’s Flood Focal Person Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, conducted an extensive visit to inspect flood preparedness in the Kache area of Khairpur. The minister was accompanied by former Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, MNA Dr. Nafisa Shah, and former MPA Syed Bachal Shah. The group personally assessed the condition of critical flood defenses, including the Ulra Jagir levee, Baharu Dero, and the Jamsher levee.

During the inspection, irrigation officials provided a detailed briefing, assuring the ministers that all safety dams in the area are currently stable and that water flow is being monitored continuously. They confirmed that comprehensive measures are firmly in place to manage the flood situation effectively. In a significant update on livestock protection, officials reported that 24,000 large animals and 26,000 small animals have already been vaccinated at the Ulra Jagir Livestock Camp, with sufficient medicines available and veterinary staff deployed round-the-clock.

Addressing the public, Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah stated that there is no need for worry as all levees are completely secure. He emphasized that the government’s foremost priority is the protection of citizens’ lives and property, noting that efforts to relocate people to safe places are being conducted alongside measures to safeguard their livestock. He confirmed that all relevant government agencies are operating in close coordination and remain on high alert 24 hours a day to address any potential emergency promptly.

Echoing this sentiment, former Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah stated that the Ulra levee faces no immediate threat and that the current conditions reflect a normal flood situation. He affirmed that the Sindh government has made full preparations to handle a major flood event, with the entire cabinet, including the Chief Minister, actively present at the dams to oversee operations. “The public will never be left alone,” he assured.
