U.S. Vetoes UN Resolution Calling for Permanent Gaza Ceasefire and Unhindered Aid

The suffering of Palestinians under Israeli aggression continues, as the United States has vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution that called for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid.

The resolution, presented by Algeria with the support of Pakistan and ten other non-permanent members of the Security Council, demanded an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza and the unimpeded access of humanitarian assistance.

Out of the 15 members of the Security Council, 14 voted in favor of the resolution, including Pakistan. However, the U.S. veto prevented its adoption.
