Despite recent setbacks to their Heisman Trophy campaigns, several quarterbacks have seen their odds of being the top pick in the next NFL Draft improve. Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza (+300) is now the favorite after a strong start to the season, throwing for 16 touchdowns against just one interception. He is closely followed by South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers (+350), who is working his way back from a concussion.
Garrett Nussmeier of LSU (+460) has seen his odds dip after a loss to Ole Miss and questions about his health and consistency, but his profile as a traditional pocket passer continues to intrigue NFL scouts. There is a significant gap to the next contender, Oklahoma’s John Mateer (+1300), who is currently recovering from hand surgery.
The field is rounded out by other notable quarterbacks, though their odds are longer. The shortest odds for a non-quarterback belong to Miami pass rusher Rueben Bain Jr. (+1500). Meanwhile, pre-season favorite Arch Manning (+2500) has seen his stock fall significantly amid speculation he may not even declare for the 2025 draft.
