At the Los Angeles Lakers’ media day, LeBron James definitively stated he will not prolong his career for the chance to play with his second son, Bryce James. “No, I’m not waiting on Bryce,” James said, clarifying that his son, who is beginning his freshman season at Arizona, has his own timeline that may not align with the final stages of his own legendary career.
While LeBron made history last season by playing alongside his eldest son, Bronny, he is not committing to a similar pursuit with Bryce. The 21-time All-Star, who will become the first player in NBA history to play in 23 seasons when the new campaign tips off, turns 41 in December. Bryce could potentially enter the NBA as early as next summer.
LeBron has not announced if the upcoming season will be his last. He remains a highly productive player, averaging 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists last season. As he prepares for his first full season with co-star Luka Doncic, he is also on the cusp of breaking another record, being just 50 regular-season games shy of surpassing Robert Parish’s all-time record of 1,611 games played.
