Australia’s Inglis and Zampa to Miss First ODI Against India

SYDNEY: Wicketkeeper Josh Inglis and spinner Adam Zampa have been ruled out of Australia’s first one-day international against India, scheduled for Sunday in Perth, Cricket Australia announced on Tuesday.

Inglis has been sidelined due to an ongoing calf strain. The absence creates a selection dilemma, as the other wicketkeeper in the original squad, Alex Carey, is committed to playing a Sheffield Shield match to prepare for the upcoming Ashes test series.

As a result, Josh Philippe has been added to the ODI squad and will take up the wicketkeeping duties for the Perth match.

Meanwhile, Matt Kuhnemann has been called into the squad as a replacement for Zampa, who will miss the series opener for personal family reasons.

Cricket Australia confirmed that Carey will rejoin the squad in time for the second ODI in Adelaide on October 23. There is optimism that Inglis will recover from his injury and be available for selection for the third and final match of the series at the Sydney Cricket Ground the following Saturday.
