Adiala Jail Clarifies: Imran Khan Receiving ‘B-Class’ Prisoner Facilities

The Adiala Jail administration has released an official statement refuting allegations of mistreatment against PTI founder Imran Khan, clarifying that he is being provided all amenities under ‘B-Class’ prisoner regulations. According to jail authorities, Khan enjoys personalized meals prepared by an assigned cook, access to books/newspapers of his choice, LED lighting, and a dedicated two-cell complex with a private courtyard for walking and cycling—privileges not available to other B-Class inmates.

Despite his incarceration, Khan has remained politically active, issuing 413 tweets through intermediaries since August 2024. These tweets have directed PTI supporters on key matters, including the 2024 general elections, Sialkot by-poll, November 26 protests, and government negotiations. His statements have made headlines 45 times in less than a year. Additionally, he has granted interviews to international media (The Telegraph, Reuters, WSJ, Fox News) and engaged with Pakistani journalists during in-jail court hearings.

The jail administration confirmed that Khan has received 66 visitors in the past three months, including PTI leaders, lawmakers, and lawyers. Medical staff conduct thrice-daily check-ups, with recent reports confirming he is in good health with no underlying conditions. He is also permitted two hours of daily exercise in an open-air courtyard. Officials emphasized that his security, health, and legal rights are fully safeguarded as per prison rules.

Dismissing social media rumors of mistreatment as “baseless and politically motivated,” jail authorities asserted that Khan is receiving better facilities than any other detainee at Adiala. The statement aimed to counter PTI-led allegations of discrimination, reaffirming that his treatment aligns with legal standards for high-profile prisoners. The clarification comes amid ongoing political tensions surrounding Khan’s imprisonment and PTI’s demands for his release.
