Arrest Warrants Issued for KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in Liquor and Illegal Weapons Case

The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, directing police to take him into custody and present him before the court. The warrants pertain to a case involving the alleged recovery of liquor and illegal weapons from Gandapur in a previous incident. Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti rejected Gandapur’s request for exemption from personal appearance during the hearing.

During the court proceedings, Gandapur’s lawyer cited a ruling from the Peshawar High Court, arguing that the Islamabad Sessions Court lacked jurisdiction to issue arrest warrants against him. The defense also sought to delay the next hearing until September, but this plea was declined by the court. Consequently, the case hearing was adjourned until July 21.

The case was registered at Islamabad’s Bara Kahu police station following allegations that liquor and illegal arms were recovered from the PTI leader. The legal controversy over jurisdiction has heightened the profile of the matter amid growing public and political interest.

As the case progresses, the court’s decision to issue arrest warrants against a sitting provincial chief minister underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the judiciary’s commitment to impartial proceedings, regardless of the accused’s political stature. The next hearing will likely provide further clarity on Gandapur’s legal responsibilities in this case.
