Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir highlighted the deep-rooted strategic relationship between Pakistan and China, calling it a model of mutual trust and shared commitment. He made these remarks during an event at GHQ marking the 98th anniversary of the founding of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the COAS commended the PLA’s critical role in China’s defense and nation-building efforts.
The ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, Defense Attaché Major General Wang Zhong, officials from the Chinese Embassy, and senior Pakistani military officers. Field Marshal Munir warmly welcomed the guests and extended congratulations on the PLA’s milestone anniversary. He emphasized that Pakistan-China ties are unique, resilient, and unshaken by changing global dynamics.
The COAS underscored that the bond between the two nations remains steadfast despite regional and international challenges. He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Army and PLA are “true brothers-in-arms,” playing a pivotal role in ensuring regional stability and protecting mutual strategic interests. Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked Pakistan for hosting the event and acknowledged the Pakistan armed forces’ efforts in combating terrorism. He reiterated China’s unwavering support for Pakistan, reinforcing the enduring strength of their strategic partnership.
