Atlas Honda to Introduce Electric Scooter in Pakistan This Fiscal Year

Atlas Honda has announced plans to launch an electric scooter tailored for the Pakistani market within the current fiscal year. The company made the disclosure in an official notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), following the federal government’s rollout of the National Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy. The policy is part of Prime Minister’s vision to promote clean, affordable, and eco-friendly transportation while boosting local manufacturing.

Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the PM on Industries and Production, highlighted that the policy aims for 30% of all new vehicles sold in Pakistan to be electric by 2030. This transition is projected to save 2.07 billion litres of fuel per year, reducing the country’s oil import bill by nearly $1 billion annually. The move aligns with global trends toward sustainable mobility and environmental protection.

The company stated that it is collaborating with regulatory bodies to secure necessary approvals for a smooth market entry. “After completing quality and road tests, we plan to launch the e-scooter within this financial year,” Atlas Honda said in its PSX filing. This isn’t the company’s first EV venture—it previously conducted a soft launch of the ‘BENLY e’ electric scooter in 2023 at its Sheikhupura plant.

Industry experts believe Atlas Honda’s entry into the EV segment could significantly accelerate electric bike adoption in Pakistan, given its dominant market share in two-wheelers. The move is expected to drive competition, lower prices, and improve charging infrastructure, making EVs more accessible to the masses. With rising fuel costs and environmental concerns, this shift could mark the beginning of a new era in Pakistani transportation.
