Balochistan CM Honors Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s Legacy, Advocates Peace & Development

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti participated in the 282nd Urs celebrations of revered Sufi poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA) in Bhit Shah, where he was received by Sindh’s Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah and other officials. During the event, Shah highlighted Bhittai’s progressive portrayal of women in poetry and his teachings of harmony, crediting Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for initiating development projects in the region.

Addressing the media, CM Bugti lauded Sindh as a beacon of peace, stressing that Bhittai’s universal message could counter extremism. “Dialogue, not violence, is the solution,” he asserted, calling for collective efforts to foster tolerance. He dismissed exaggerated claims about Balochistan’s instability, revealing that surrendering militants are being rehabilitated with employment opportunities.

Bugti strongly condemned recent attacks on innocent civilians, including disabled persons, warning that perpetrators would face justice. He outlined infrastructural improvements, such as enhanced air and sea travel facilities, to boost connectivity and tourism. The CM also praised Sindh’s Journalists Protection Bill, promising similar support for ethical media practices in Balochistan.

The Urs celebrations underscored the enduring relevance of Sufi values in contemporary Pakistan. As dignitaries paid homage to Bhittai’s legacy, Bugti’s presence symbolized inter-provincial solidarity, reinforcing the shared cultural heritage that continues to inspire national unity and progress.
