Balochistan Police Arrest 13 in Brutal Double Murder Case; CM Vows Justice

Authorities in Balochistan have arrested 13 suspects, including the primary accused, in connection with the brutal killing of a man and a woman—a crime captured in a viral video that has sparked nationwide outrage. Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti confirmed the detentions in an X (Twitter) post, stating that the incident occurred days before Eid ul-Adha and that the victims have been identified. A terrorism case has been registered, with the state acting as the complainant since neither family reported the crime.

Investigation Underway Amid Conflicting Claims
While social media users allege the murders were an “honor killing,” officials have not yet independently verified the motive. Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind disclosed that police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel are combing the area for evidence. Authorities are also working with NADRA to identify individuals in the video and tracing a motorcycle seen in the footage via its license plate.

Bodies Still Missing as Arrests Continue
Despite the progress in arrests, the victims’ bodies have not yet been recovered. CM Bugti, in a late-night update, announced that 11 suspects were initially held, with operations ongoing to apprehend remaining culprits. “The state stands with the oppressed,” he declared, emphasizing that the law would take its course.

Public Outrage and Calls for Accountability
The grisly nature of the crime has intensified demands for justice, with many questioning why the families remained silent. As forensic and digital investigations proceed, officials assure the public that all involved will face prosecution. The case highlights broader concerns over vigilante violence and the need for stronger legal protections in the region.
