Bilawal Bhutto Hails Army Chief’s Meeting with Trump as Boost to Pakistan-US Ties

KARACHI: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari highlighted today’s high-profile meeting between Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and former US President Donald J. Trump as a significant step forward in Pakistan-US relations. He noted that Trump’s past role in mediating a ceasefire between Pakistan and India adds weight to the discussions, which are expected to focus on regional stability and bilateral cooperation.

Bilawal pointed out that despite Pakistan’s decisive victory in the recent five-day conflict, India has continued to resist all diplomatic efforts for lasting peace, including initiatives led by the US. He expressed disappointment over New Delhi’s unwillingness to engage in meaningful dialogue, raising concerns about the future of regional security.

The PPP chairman reiterated Pakistan’s stance that while the country does not seek conflict, it is also not desperate for dialogue. However, he stressed that peace is in the interest of both nations and emphasized that disputes cannot be resolved through military means. Bilawal urged a return to constructive diplomacy to address long-standing issues between the two neighbors.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned India’s “weaponization of water,” oppression in Kashmir, and the politicization of terrorism, calling them dangerous and unsustainable policies. He asserted that the only viable path forward is through honest and sincere diplomacy, rather than India’s continued denial of its destabilizing actions in the region
