A high-level Pakistani delegation, headed by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, is set to commence crucial meetings at the United Nations today (June 2). The delegation will engage with ambassadors from 14 UN Security Council member states, including all five permanent members.
Bilawal and Senator Sherry Rehman have already arrived in New York, with other delegation members joining them on separate flights. The team comprises prominent political figures such as Hina Rabbani Khar, Dr. Musadik Malik, Khurram Dastgir Khan, Bushra Anjum Butt, Tehmina Janjua, and Jalil Abbas Jilani.
The delegation aims to present Pakistan’s perspective on recent military tensions with India and counter New Delhi’s narrative globally. Alongside meetings with the UN Secretary-General and the President of the UN General Assembly, the group will hold discussions with envoys from China, Russia, and other Security Council members.
Additionally, the delegation will brief the United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA) and engage with Pakistani journalists. Further engagements include meetings with ambassadors from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
