Bilawal Bhutto Warns of Global Silence on Israeli Aggression

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has drawn parallels between Israel’s escalating attacks on Iran and the global indifference that enabled historical atrocities. Addressing the National Assembly, he referenced Martin Niemöller’s Holocaust-era poem, “First They Came,” to condemn the world’s silence as Israel targets Palestinians, Lebanese, Yemenis, and now Iranians. “If we don’t speak out today, no one will remain to speak for us tomorrow,” he warned, urging immediate international intervention.

Bilawal’s speech comes amid a dangerous escalation in the Middle East, following U.S.-supported Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. He accused Israel of pursuing a genocidal campaign that risks dragging the world into a catastrophic war. “This isn’t just Iran’s crisis—it’s a threat to every nation’s sovereignty,” he asserted, calling for collective diplomatic resistance.

The former foreign minister emphasized that Pakistan cannot afford to stay passive as regional tensions reach a boiling point. He criticized the global community’s selective outrage, pointing out that unchecked aggression against Muslim nations sets a perilous precedent. “The world condemned Russia over Ukraine but stays silent as Gaza burns and Iran is bombed,” he noted, demanding consistent moral accountability.

Bilawal’s warning underscores growing fears of a wider conflict, with the potential to destabilize global security and trade. He urged Pakistan’s government to lead diplomatic efforts, rallying Muslim nations and allies to oppose Israeli militarism. “Either we unite now or face the consequences later,” he declared, framing the crisis as a defining moment for international justice.
