Pakistan is observing the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala today (Friday) with deep reverence, as mourners participate in processions and gatherings nationwide to honor their supreme sacrifice.
In Karachi, the central procession began at Nishtar Park at 1 PM, moving through MA Jinnah Road amid tight security. Over 4,000 police personnel have been deployed, with containers blocking adjoining streets and mobile services partially suspended. The Bomb Disposal Unit conducted thorough sweeps along the route to ensure safety.
Lahore’s main procession started from Haveli Alaf Shah, Delhi Gate, concluding at Karbala Gamay Shah, with 5,000 police officers securing the route. Across Punjab, 30,000 personnel have been deployed to protect 382 processions and majalis.
In Peshawar, two Zuljinah processions were taken out from Imambargah Akhundabad and Jamia Masjid Kocha Risaldar, concluding at their respective Imambargahs under strict security.
The day is marked by noha khwani, matam, and recitations, as millions pay homage to the martyrs of Karbala with unwavering devotion.
