China Praises Pakistan’s Military as Key to Regional Stability During COAS Visit

RAWALPINDI – China’s leadership commended the Pakistan Armed Forces as a bedrock of resilience and a critical force for peace in South Asia during high-level meetings with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir in Beijing. The visit underscored the deepening strategic partnership between the two allies, with discussions spanning defense collaboration, CPEC, and regional security.

Strengthening Political & Economic Ties
General Munir held talks with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, focusing on the evolving geopolitical landscape and CPEC’s role in regional connectivity. Both sides emphasized sovereign equality, multilateralism, and long-term stability, expressing satisfaction over bilateral progress. The COAS reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), highlighting its significance for shared prosperity.

Defense & Security Collaboration
The COAS also met General Zhang Youxia (Vice Chairman, Central Military Commission) and PLA Army officials, discussing counterterrorism, joint exercises, and defense modernization. A guard of honor was presented to General Munir at PLA Headquarters, symbolizing military camaraderie. China lauded Pakistan’s counterterror efforts and pledged to enhance operational interoperability against hybrid threats.

A Shared Vision for Regional Peace
The Chinese leadership reaffirmed full confidence in Pakistan’s armed forces and their role in stabilizing South Asia. General Munir thanked China for its unwavering support and vowed to expand military-to-military cooperation.
