LAHORE: Health authorities in Punjab reported a continued rise in dengue fever cases, confirming 42 new infections over the past 24 hours, with Rawalpindi and Lahore emerging as the primary hotspots.
The latest data underscores a widening spread of the mosquito-borne disease across the province, raising public health concerns.
According to official reports, Rawalpindi district accounted for the majority of the new cases with 21, followed by Lahore with 6. Sahiwal registered 4 new cases, while Faisalabad and Sargodha reported 3 and 2 cases, respectively. Single cases were also recorded in Khanewal, Hafizabad, Vehari, Lodhran, Pakpattan, and Attock.
The cumulative figures for the year so far show Rawalpindi as the most affected district with 968 patients, followed by Lahore with 373 cases. Murree has reported 117 dengue cases to date.
The provincial total for dengue infections in Punjab has now reached 2,053 for the current year.
