Faulty Wires in Ranipur’s Shahi Bazaar Pose Major Fire Risk

Ranipur (sajid ansari)

In Ranipur city’s main commercial hub, Shahi Bazaar, the electric wires from Baba Dastgir Gate to the Telephone Exchange have fallen into a state of severe disrepair. Due to frequent fires breaking out in these wires, not only shopkeepers but also citizens are facing extreme distress. Shahi Bazaar, the city’s busiest marketplace, sees thousands of visitors daily, with shops holding goods worth millions. In such a situation, the repeated catching of fire in the wires could lead to a major disaster.

Shopkeepers stated that sparks and fires erupting daily from the wires not only endanger their merchandise but also compromise the security of nearby banks. They further shared that on several occasions, they have had to abandon their business activities to extinguish fires caused by the wires, disrupting their trade and putting them in grave danger.

Businessmen, traders, and citizens in the market have warned that if immediate repairs and replacement of the wires are not carried out, a major human and financial loss could occur at any time, for which the SEPCO administration would be held entirely responsible.

The shopkeepers and traders have strongly appealed to the SEPCO Chief and the responsible officials of SEPCO Ranipur to take urgent notice, arrange repairs, and install new wires. This would safeguard the city’s key commercial area and provide citizens with a sense of security.
