Bruno Le Maire, France’s former finance minister, is no longer serving as an advisor to the executive board of ASML, the Dutch chip equipment maker confirmed on Monday .
The termination of his role follows a dramatic and brief turn in French politics. Le Maire had been poised to join the new French government, which was announced on Sunday but collapsed mere hours after being appointed .
Le Maire had been named as a special advisor to ASML’s executive board in late 2024, with his role officially commencing on January 1, 2025 . His appointment was part of ASML’s strategy to strengthen Europe’s semiconductor industry, leveraging his experience from his time as France’s finance minister, during which he played a pivotal role in attracting chip industry investments to France .
The company and Le Maire’s representatives have not commented further on the departure
