Government Employees Halt Services in Mehar, Threaten Karachi Protest

Mehar(Report Mujeeb Rahman Qambrani) Government employees in Mehar, Sindh, have launched a 9-day strike, shutting down schools, colleges, offices, and hospitals in protest against pension reforms and demands for Disaster Risk Allowance (DRA) and group insurance. The strike, led by the Sindh Employees Alliance (SEA), has caused widespread disruptions, with patients facing severe difficulties due to the boycott of outpatient departments (OPD) in hospitals.

The striking employees, including doctors and paramedical staff, are demanding the withdrawal of pension deductions and payment of group insurance and benevolent funds. They claim that the Sindh government is unfairly depriving employees of their rights, unlike other provinces where employees receive better benefits.

Employees are demanding the reversal of pension deductions. Payment of group insurance funds to employees.

Employees are seeking the payment of DRA. Increase in salaries proportionate to inflation.

If their demands are not met, the employees plan to stage a massive protest outside Bilawal House in Karachi on October 6. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh has expressed support for the protesting employees and submitted a resolution in the Sindh Assembly backing their cause
