Health Emergency in Tando Jam: Stagnant Water & Mosquito Menace Plague New Talpur Colony

Tando Jam (Report by Munsif Ahmed Talpur) Rainwater has still not been drained from New Talpur Colony near the railway crossing, causing an alarming increase in mosquitoes and posing serious health risks to the residents. According to details, residents of New Talpur Colony, UC 56 Tando Jam, including Mir Inayat Ali Talpur and Dr. Harchand, told the media that after the recent rains, sewage and drainage water overflowed and accumulated in a large plot. Since the plot is at a lower level, rainwater from the entire area settled there, but so far the municipal corporation has not taken any steps to remove it.

Neither the UC chairman nor the vice chairman have paid any attention to the issue. As a result, foul smell has spread across the locality and the mosquito population is rapidly increasing. Residents added that the plot is located close to the main railway crossing, surrounded by two clinics, a school, and dense housing.

The stagnant sewage water has caused unbearable stench, while the growing number of mosquitoes and flies has created extreme difficulties for the people. They also expressed fears that such conditions are accelerating the spread of infectious diseases. Mir Inayat Ali Talpur further stated that he is filling mud in the street to prevent rainwater from flowing back into the plot in the future. However, he emphasized that a permanent solution is urgently required. Residents have appealed to the higher authorities to immediately drain the sewage water from the plot in order to protect citizens from severe health hazards and further outbreaks of diseases.
