High Flood Expected : Three Relief Centers Established in Katcha Area by AC Sobhodero

Ranipur (Sajid Ansari) According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department and the Flood Forecasting Division, there is a high risk of an extremely high flood in the Indus River within the next two days, particularly at Guddu and Sukkur Barrages.

The forecast states that on September 4, the water flow at Guddu Barrage may rise to 800,000 – 1,000,000 cusecs, while on September 5, the flow at Sukkur Barrage may further increase to 900,000 – 1,100,000 cusecs.

District administration and PDMA Sindh have issued strong warnings to residents of the Katcha areas to immediately move to safer places. The government has started establishing relief camps in potentially affected areas, and emergency measures have been enforced.

Assistant Commissioner Sobhodero, Shah rukh Manganhar, has set up three camps in Katcha areas to accommodate flood-affected people:

1. First camp – Aman Ji Chhai, Village Dost Ali Channa
2. Second camp – Village Mahmood Channa near Sagiyoon
3. Third camp – at Trimunhi near Bhoonbhatpur

These camps will have PPHI medical doctors and veterinary doctors available for the affected population.

Due to the flood threat, especially Lakho Dero, Saleh Pat, Pano Aqil, Khairpur, and Ghotki’s low-lying villages and agricultural lands are at severe risk, where thousands of acres of standing crops are expected to be destroyed.

Meanwhile, Irrigation Department officials have not yet taken any precautionary measures to secure the Ranipur Rohri Canal.

The district administration has appealed to the public to strictly follow government instructions, avoid unnecessary movement near riverbanks and embankments, and take urgent steps to protect their lives and property.
