Dadu:(Report by Abdul Qadir Mahesar) A grand event was organized by the Legal Aid Society at Government Primary School Syed Ali Asghar Shah in Mehar to mark Defence Day. The event was attended by Legal Aid Society leaders including Field Officer Israr Ahmed Jokhio, Darya Khan Dahri, Muhammad Kamran, District Member Syed Muhammad Shah Rizvi, Sajjad Ali Pathan, as well as prominent citizens of Mehar, journalists, teachers, and members of civil society in large numbers.
The ceremony began with the national anthem, followed by tableaux presented by students on the theme of Pakistan’s Defence Day. Slogans in support of the Pakistan Army were raised enthusiastically.
Among the distinguished participants were PPP City Mehar President Abdul Ghaffar Airi, Mehran Social Forum Chairman Riaz Chandio, PTF Mehar President and Headmaster Ijaz Ahmed Chandio, Muhammad Amin Magsi, Taluka Education Officer Jahangir Chandio, Hindu Community President Dilip Kumar, PTF leader Abdul Samad Bughio, Ahmed Zaheen Magsi, Assistant Mukhtiarkar Mehar Bashir Ahmed Dehar, Asif Tanyo, SGA leader Dr. Hemn Das, Muhammad Azam Panhwar, Engineer Muhammad Aslam Chandio, Dr. Abdul Majeed Balidai, along with many local citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, they said their aim is to serve the poor, destitute, and helpless people. They paid rich tribute to the Pakistan Army for its immense sacrifices for the country. They also said this event was held in advance because September 6 coincides with the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal this year.
They added, “God willing, there will be no floods, but even if floods come, we will never leave the poor people alone.”
Earlier, Syed Muhammad Shah Rizvi presented Sindhi cultural gifts (Ajraks) to the guests, while schoolgirls earned applause for their Defence Day tableaux performances.
