Imran Ashraf, celebrated for his compelling TV roles, is stepping into the Indian Punjabi film industry with his debut movie, Enna Nu Rehna Sehna Ni Aaunda. The film’s first track, All Good, was released on Tuesday, and Ashraf shared its vibrant music video on his Instagram. The upbeat song, performed by co-star Ranjit Bawa, is being touted as “the party anthem of the year,” featuring neon-lit party scenes and high-energy choreography.
Originally scheduled for a May release, the comedy film—which explores the challenges of studying abroad—was delayed, likely due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. No official reason was given, but the film is now set for a global release on August 22, including in Pakistani cinemas. A teaser dropped last month, revealing Ashraf’s role alongside Jassie Gill, Sapna Pabbi, and veteran Pakistani comedian Nasir Chinyoti.
The film’s release follows controversy surrounding another cross-border Punjabi comedy, Sardaar Ji 3. Produced by Diljit Dosanjh, the film faced backlash in India for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, leading to its indefinite postponement there. However, it premiered in Pakistan and internationally on June 27 and, as per director Amar Hundal, recently became the highest-grossing Punjabi film outside India.
This isn’t the first time an Indian film has faced hurdles for featuring Pakistani talent. Fawad Khan’s Abir Gulaal was shelved indefinitely after India accused Pakistan of involvement in April’s Pahalgam attack—a claim Pakistan denies. The film remains unreleased, highlighting the ongoing challenges for cross-border collaborations in the entertainment industry.
