Imran Khan Assumes PTI Patron-in-Chief Role, Gohar Retains Chairmanship Amid Party Turmoil

RAWALPINDI: Incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has declared himself the party’s patron-in-chief, while Barrister Gohar Ali Khan will remain chairman, ending speculation about leadership changes amid internal discord.

The announcement came after a meeting between Gohar and Khan at Adiala Jail, where the former prime minister confirmed he would lead PTI’s upcoming anti-government protest movement.

“The PTI founder will guide the protest campaign, with instructions relayed through Omar Ayub,” Gohar told reporters, though no timeline for demonstrations was disclosed.

Dismissing rumors of his removal, Gohar asserted, “Everyone knows the consequences if PTI operates without a chairman.” The party has vowed to challenge the PML-N-led coalition, demanding the restoration of its “stolen mandate.”
