Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has firmly rejected circulating rumors about President Asif Ali Zardari’s removal from office and the possibility of a 27th constitutional amendment. During a media interaction in Rohri, Sindh, on the eve of Ashura, Naqvi dismissed these claims as unfounded social media speculation. He urged the public not to believe such reports and stressed the importance of verifying information from credible sources.
Responding to a journalist’s question about the alleged constitutional changes, Naqvi advised against spreading unverified political rumors, especially during the solemn days of Muharram. He requested media outlets to avoid speculative reporting for at least two days out of respect for the religious observance. The minister emphasized the need for national unity and responsible journalism during this sensitive period.
Naqvi pointed out that certain elements were spreading misleading narratives because they were troubled by the rare alignment between the government, political leaders, and the military establishment. He stated that this unity has disrupted the agendas of those who thrive on political instability. The minister’s remarks aimed to reassure the public about the country’s political stability.
With Ashura being observed across the country, Naqvi reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order. His statements sought to curb misinformation while reinforcing the importance of harmony during Muharram. Authorities remain vigilant to prevent any attempts to exploit religious events for political gains.
