A significant breach has occurred in the Sui Kundar minor canal, which flows under the supervision of the Irrigation Department Tando Adam-2. The breach, initially five feet wide near RD 73 and RD 74 close to Tando Adam, rapidly expanded to ten feet, resulting in floodwaters submerging extensive cotton and millet crops. This incident has inflicted losses worth millions of rupees on local farmers, devastating their livelihoods and seasonal yields.
This marks the second breach in the Sui Kundar minor canal within a week, raising serious concerns about the negligence and maintenance practices of the irrigation staff. The repeated failures highlight an urgent need for departmental accountability and infrastructure upgrades to prevent further agricultural and financial damage. Farmers are calling for immediate repairs and a thorough investigation into the recurring issues to safeguard their crops and investments.
