ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has finalized F-9 Park as the location for a new cricket stadium in the federal capital. The project aims to bolster sports infrastructure while adhering to environmental regulations.
Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif, known for his expertise in sports facility development, has been consulted to advise on the stadium’s design and technical requirements. Latif previously contributed to the Islamabad Club’s development, bringing valuable experience to this initiative.
In compliance with a Supreme Court ruling protecting green spaces, the CDA plans to maintain significant portions of the stadium area as eco-friendly zones. The proposed design includes green enclosures, inspired by stadiums in South Africa and the West Indies, blending modern sports infrastructure with environmental sustainability.
The CDA may seek Supreme Court approval for the project, given that the court had earlier halted stadium construction in Shakarparian over environmental concerns. If approved, the F-9 Park stadium could become a landmark sporting venue while preserving Islamabad’s green character.
