Mehar( Report by Mujeeb Rahman Qambrani ) The rising water level and swift currents in the Indus River, coupled with intermittent rains, have increased the worries of the residents of Kachhi area in Mehar taluka. The locals say that on one hand, they are threatened by potential river flooding, and on the other hand, the intermittent rains have left them struggling to cope.

Despite the Sindh government’s announcement to rescue the residents of Kachhi, the administration has not taken any effective measures. The people are forced to take matters into their own hands, struggling to escape the floodwaters and protect their livestock, children, and essential belongings. Many have been forced to take shelter under trees.

The residents say that thousands of acres of crops, including rice, sugarcane, cotton, and vegetables, are being affected. They are trying to salvage what they can, but the crops are being swept away. The district administration has not taken any measures so far, despite the government’s announcement. They demand that the government take special measures to save human lives and provide relief to the affected people.
