Senior Kashmiri leader and Acting Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Raja Muzaffar, has appealed to Indian and Pakistani delegations in the United States to prioritize a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict for lasting regional stability.
Addressing Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, head of Pakistan’s delegation, and Shashi Tharoor, leading India’s delegation, Muzaffar emphasized that bold leadership could reshape the future of South Asia. “Sustainable peace in Kashmir is the key that can open the window to resolution,” he stated, stressing that resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute could help settle other regional conflicts.
Muzaffar urged the revival of trilateral dialogue, suspended since 1964, and proposed recognizing imprisoned leader Yasin Malik as the legitimate voice of Kashmiri aspirations. He also called for negotiations modeled after historic talks with Sheikh Abdullah, while urging both nations to reject extremism and embrace dialogue.
“Only through negotiations can we move towards a peaceful and prosperous future,” he concluded, appealing for courage and foresight from both sides.
