Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has ordered stringent emergency measures to control the rapid spread of dengue across the province, with a particular focus on Charsadda district, where 718 cases have been reported. The CM directed assistant commissioners to lead union council-level teams in monitoring anti-dengue activities, while deputy commissioners were instructed to personally oversee field operations to ensure effective implementation of preventive strategies.
An inquiry has been initiated to investigate possible negligence and lapses in dengue prevention measures in Charsadda. In response to the outbreak, the Health Department has deployed five entomology experts to the district, and all leaves for health staff, district administration officials, and relevant departments in Charsadda have been cancelled to prioritize containment efforts.
The Deputy Commissioner has been tasked with convening an emergency meeting, setting up medical camps at the union council level, intensifying anti-dengue spraying campaigns, and designating separate wards and beds for dengue patients in local hospitals. Additionally, a detailed list of required medicines and medical supplies must be submitted to the Commissioner’s office by this evening to ensure adequate resources are available.
Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud, who visited Charsadda and chaired a high-level meeting, was informed that 786 dengue cases have been confirmed across the division, with the majority concentrated in Charsadda. The Commissioner emphasized the need for urgent and coordinated action, directing assistant commissioners to closely supervise field teams and ordering an inquiry into the unusually high number of cases in Charsadda, with a report to be submitted by the Additional Deputy Commissioner.
