KP Adviser Accuses Ruling Elite of Protecting Sugar Mafia

PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Information Adviser, Barrister Dr. Saif, has launched a scathing attack on the federal government, alleging that the sugar mafia continues to exploit consumers under state protection.

In a hard-hitting statement, Barrister Saif claimed that influential sugar barons enjoy complete impunity due to their connections with the country’s ruling elite. “The government has utterly failed to regulate this mafia, leaving the public defenseless against artificial price hikes,” he said.

The adviser contrasted the struggles of inflation-hit citizens with the growing wealth of powerful figures, accusing authorities of worsening economic misery instead of providing relief. “While ordinary Pakistanis struggle to afford basic food items, those in power amass more wealth,” he remarked.

The statement adds fuel to longstanding allegations of collusion between policymakers and business cartels. With sugar prices remaining volatile, pressure is mounting on the government to either take decisive action or face escalating public backlash.

Will this bold accusation trigger investigations, or will the sugar mafia’s influence prevail? The ball now lies in the government’s court.
