Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has refuted rumors suggesting that PTI founder Imran Khan sought his resignation. In a public statement on Sunday, Gandapur asserted that he became CM due to Imran Khan’s trust and that the provincial government represents the PTI’s mandate. “I am here because the PTI founder has confidence in me. This is his government, and his mandate,” he stated firmly.
The clarification came a day after sources claimed that the incarcerated former PM had advised Gandapur to resign if he failed to restore law and order in KP. “If Ali Amin Gandapur cannot restore peace, he should step down,” the sources quoted Imran Khan as saying. However, the KP CM’s spokesperson dismissed these reports, calling them baseless and reaffirming loyalty to PTI’s founding chairman.
The spokesperson emphasized that Gandapur would willingly resign if formally instructed by Imran Khan. He also denied receiving any verified message from the PTI founder regarding the CM’s position. Despite being the chief minister, Gandapur has faced difficulties in meeting Imran Khan in Adiala Jail due to alleged non-compliance with court orders and legal procedures.
Highlighting the provincial government’s efforts, the spokesperson noted that Gandapur is actively working to strengthen law and order, including organizing tribal jirgas to counter terrorism. The statement aimed to dispel doubts about the KP administration’s stability while reinforcing Gandapur’s dedication to PTI’s governance agenda.
