LUMHS Organizes Free Medical Camp for Women and Children

Hyderabad: The Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) Jamshoro organized a free medical camp for pregnant women and children as part of Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations. The event, held at the newly constructed Liaquat Health Services Hospital, was themed around “Marka-e-Haq” (Struggle for Rights) and aimed to provide essential healthcare services to underserved communities.

The camp offered free medical check-ups, laboratory tests, medicines, and advanced vaccinations for women and children. It was inaugurated by LUMHS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ikram Din Ujjan and District Health Officer Pir Manzoor Chandio. Dr. Ujjan stressed the need to improve healthcare infrastructure, particularly in rural areas, and emphasized the importance of staffing Basic Health Units with qualified professionals to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment.

Around 40 consultants, doctors, and staff members participated in the camp, including specialists in pediatrics, cardiology, neurology, and public health. Free tests such as blood sugar, cholesterol, hepatitis screening, and ultrasounds were conducted, benefiting hundreds of patients from remote areas.

The local community expressed appreciation for the initiative, praising LUMHS for providing accessible healthcare. The event underscored the university’s commitment to public welfare and its efforts to bridge gaps in medical services for vulnerable populations.
