Naqvi, UAE Counterpart Discuss Enhanced Security & Visa Ease for Pakistanis

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a key meeting with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan to strengthen cooperation in security, immigration, and counter-narcotics efforts. The discussions, held at the UAE Ministry of Interior, began with a warm welcome and a guard of honour for Naqvi, followed by high-level talks with senior officials.

A major focus of the meeting was addressing visa challenges faced by Pakistani citizens, particularly concerning work permits. Naqvi emphasized the need for smoother processes, stating, “We want Pakistani citizens to come to the UAE with ease. Relaxation in visa policies will bring great relief.” The UAE deputy prime minister assured full support in resolving these concerns, marking a positive step for Pakistani expatriates.

Both ministers also discussed expanding collaboration in combating drug trafficking, human smuggling, and illegal immigration. They reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the historic ties between the two nations and exploring new avenues of partnership across multiple sectors, including law enforcement and trade.

During his visit, Naqvi toured Abu Dhabi Police’s state-of-the-art operations center, where he was briefed on advanced surveillance and crime prevention technologies. Impressed by the innovations, he expressed Pakistan’s interest in adopting similar systems. Concluding his trip, Naqvi hailed UAE-Pakistan relations as a “national asset” and pledged to further enhance cooperation in security and public welfare for mutual prosperity.
