Pakistan, Afghanistan & UAE to Clash in Tri-Nation Series Ahead of Asia Cup!

The much-anticipated tri-nation cricket series involving Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the UAE is nearing finalization, with an official announcement expected after the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting. Sources reveal that discussions regarding the tournament will be concluded on the sidelines of the ACC sessions, with the full schedule and venues to be disclosed shortly.

Shift from Bilateral to Tri-Series in UAE

Originally, Pakistan was scheduled to host Afghanistan for a bilateral series in August. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) proposed converting it into a tri-nation event and relocating it to the UAE. The move aims to help teams adjust to playing conditions ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, which is also expected to be held in the Emirates.

ACC AGM Sees Overwhelming Participation

The ACC Annual General Meeting (AGM) is currently underway in Bangladesh, with 24 out of 25 member nations confirming attendance—far exceeding the required quorum of 13. This strong turnout is seen as a diplomatic success for ACC President Mohsin Naqvi, who faced initial resistance from the BCCI, Sri Lanka Cricket, and Oman Cricket over the meeting’s venue. Notably, India is participating virtually, with BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla attending online—a shift from their earlier stance.
