ISLAMABAD: As Pakistan marks its 79th Independence Day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called for national unity, urging citizens to rise above divisions and work toward a Pakistan rooted in justice, equality, and service to all.
The leaders paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the heroes of the Pakistan Movement, while also celebrating the nation’s recent triumph in Marka-e-Haq (Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos)—a decisive victory against Indian aggression earlier this year.

PM Shehbaz echoed the sentiment, calling the victory “a reaffirmation of the Two-Nation Theory” and praising the armed forces for “shattering the enemy’s false pride.”
